The story of Fred Hampton, Chairman of the Illinois Black Panther Party, and his fateful betrayal by FBI informant William O'Neal.
Daniel Kaluuya does some of his finest work as Black Panthers chairman Fred Hampton in this 1960s period piece, but more screen time is devoted to LaKeith Stanfield's William O'Neal, an FBI informant who guided police toward Hampton's home, where they killed him. It's a powerful and resonant film. Opens Feb. 12 at theaters and on HBO Max. - Three and a half stars
