After you've stuffed yourself with generous helpings of homemade food for Thanksgiving, you might be awfully tempted to hibernate for the winter. The thought of going to do anything might not be at the top of your to-do list, but it should be. Put down those big, comfy blankets and brush the dust off your best Christmas sweater. It is time to head to Olympia to check out some of the fun they are offering this holiday season.

Parade of Lighted Ships

This unique event is as awesome as it sounds. On Saturday, Dec. 3, ships of all shapes and sizes will leave from Olympia's Percival Landing and quietly sail to Boston Harbor before returning back. Each ship will be decked out in their holiday best to light up the waters for all to see and will be following a Candy Cane Currents theme. The community is invited to come down to the waterfront or grab a seat at a nearby restaurant to see the ships make their way down to Boston Harbor. The Parade of Lighted Ships will begin at 6 p.m. and all ships are expected to return by 8 p.m. For more information, please visit

Parade of Lights

Lacey knows how to bring the community together during their annual Parade of Lights. In celebration of the town's 50th anniversary, Lacey will be throwing quite the holiday bash. On Monday, Dec. 5, come down to see the Lacey Fire Department's Santa Mobile and Santa himself. At the conclusion of the parade, guests will enjoy the annual tree-lighting ceremony and if the weather is decent, families can snuggle together to watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Santa will also be visiting with families during the film. For more information, please visit

Many more fun events will be taking place throughout the month of December. If you are traveling from out of the area, consider making arrangements in one of the convenient nearby lodging establishments. For more details on events, please visit
