In support of Coalition Humane's efforts to fight pet overpopulation, the Whiskers Wine & Dine event will go down Friday from 6-10 p.m. at the Sharon McGavick Center in Lakewood. Expect a "spay-ghetti" dinner, wine tasting, a silent auction - not to mention dessert - auction. Reservations, which are required in advance and cost $50 per person, can be made by visiting coalitionhumane.org. All proceeds will go to Coalition Humane's Tacoma spay and neuter clinic.
PREDICTION: We're sure plenty of money will be raised for a good cause on Friday, but we just can't get past this enticing line taken from promotions for the Whiskers Wine & Dine: "Come out to help us fight pet overpopulation at its source!" Has Lakewood, among other things, really become the epicenter for seedy, unprotected, promiscuous pet sex? Must be the bikini barista influence.
[Sharon McGavick Center, 6 p.m., 4500 Steilacoom Blvd. S.W., Lakewood]
