The Tacoma Dome is one of the largest wood domed structures in the world. It is owned and operated by the City of Tacoma's Public Assembly Facilities Department.
Ground breaking for the facility took place on July 1, 1981. The building was constructed in less than two years and officially opened on April 21, 1983.
The Tacoma Dome Arena and its attached Exhibition Hall host more than 300 days of events every year including WIAA high school sports, major concerts, family shows, and several tradeshows.
