Hall & Oates: Vote on 12 of their best looks

THE FERVOR IS BUILDING FOR THEIR PUYALLUP FAIR SHOW >>>

"I'm at the point in my life and my career where I can do exactly what I want," John Oates told Reuters earlier this year. "And that's all any creative person wants to do."

The Weekly Volcano can only assume Oates was referring to the fact he shaved off his moustache.

But what we're not sure of is what look, exactly, Hall & Oates will don Sept. 22 when they take the stage at the Puyallup Fair. In honor of The News Tribune's brilliant Lady Gaga fashion poll, the Weekly Volcano has compiled a gallery of some of the most striking looks Hall & Oates have sported over the years. Check out the looks below and vote on your favorite. We don't have the Trib's deep pockets for a vote tally mechanism thingy, so tell us your favorite in the comments section at the bottom. Be sure to tell us your favorite Hall & Oates experience too.

The Weekly Volcano will be at the Hall & Oates show next month with our cameras at the ready - snapping shots of all the folks sure to be dressed as the popular pop duo, or the people Daryl and John like to refer as the "Out of Touchers." Whether this will result in an 18-page pictorial, we're not sure of. What we are sure of is it'll be awesome.

Boy, I was all set to vote for Look 5--tell that point isn't compelling--but then you finished with the undeniable winner. Look 12 is exactly what it would look like if my friends Ben and Heather Matthews went as Hall and Oates for Halloween. As for my favorite H2O memory, Hall and Oates were the second band I ever saw live. My mom and I got great seats at the Norman (OK) Convention Center, and Daryl Hall winked at me in what now seems like a decidedly suggestive manner. I was 15. To this day the phrase "Big Bam Boom" gets me both excited and confused.

For me, it comes down to Look #3 and Look #7. There's something so sweet and innocent about #3, like maybe they're lovers who have decided to stay in on a Friday night and just lay down on their carpet and watch a creature feature. Something like that there.

But #7... boy, I don't know. It's so crazy cocaine-fueled, and Oates is looking so intimidating with that bare chest and the skinny tie.

I guess what it comes down to is which incarnation I would most like to be... Cocaine comes and goes, but love and affection is an invaluable commodity.

Number 3!

I'm liking number 2. That amber glow behind such healthy, luscious locks. The melty look in Oates eyes and the somber "Am I a boy or a girl" face of Hall gets me all worked up.

Hi there!!!! I would have to vote for pic #3 and 12......I love the older pictures of them, it really shows how far they've come up until today!!! They obviously loved music way back when and still do up to the present...."they do it for love" that's for sure!!! I think they liked to pose for the camera, and I have never thought they were lovers-----I hate it when people say stupid things like that......why can't people just enjoy artists for who they are and not be so judgemental-----(people that do that are just jealous and wished they could be so lucky to look that way or have that talent)------I was blessed to have met them in June of 1988 in Portland, ME------I am their #1 fan in New England and I always will be------
