Revised: Merende will close after this weekend

SAD DAY >>>

The word out of the il Trattoria di Merende camp is that they are throwing in the towel.

The times are tough. Even with delicious food, the downtown Tacoma Italian restaurant couldn't get enough butts in the seats.

They are going out with a bang, though. Tonight, Merende will throw a party with live music by the Malcolm Clark Band. Stop by for dinner and raise a glass or two.

They will remain open through the weenkend.

The fig and prosciutto flat bread! The new Italian tacos!
This makes me sad, very very sad.
Addio, Merende.

The rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated...

We are not closing today - or tomorrow. We will be open this weekend as well - Please come by and enjoy a glass of wine, some fine food, music this evening with the Malcolm Clark Band and great company.

Bring your friends. Really!

I am so bummed! This is one of my favorite places for happy hour in downtown Tacoma. Nick was the BEST bartender!!

This is sad news. I have enjoyed the small plates menu and great happy hour drinks. Why do all good things leave Tacoma? I hope that someday soon it will no longer be the case!

here is an article that actually quotes the owners. crazy huh? And without statements like "throwing in the towel." I find Volcano's article completely insulting to Merende.

I wish nothing but wonderful things for everyone who was a part of Merende.

Merende is permanently closed and will not re-open in my building at 813 Pacific Ave. in downtown Tacoma

All Merende web information on Twitter, their website etc. should be removed - it is mis-informaiton and confusing to the general public.

Laura Hanan is a KOOK!!!! Her comments show how incredibly ignorant she is - all this coming from the 'owner' of a building in foreclosure. Ban her from Tacoma - she is a disgrace to the community, a liar.

Why is her statement "ignorant"? It's matter of fact. It's HER building. Sounds like "A" is a kook. At least she signs her name and doesn't hide behind a letter.
