Becoming a Weekly Volcano Summer Scout is nothing to be taken lightly. Whether camping under the stars, drinking poolside or grueling through a tour of the Boeing plant, adventure is always around the corner for the Weekly Volcano Summer Scout.
A true Summer Scout must be of sound body and mind, experienced with getaway environments of all kinds, and adept at maneuvering through the sometimes-tricky terrains of summertime recreation. It requires training, or at the very least thumbing ... through the pages of this Summer Scout Handbook.
Use the Weekly Volcano's Summer Scout Handbook as your reference. Never leave home on a summer adventure without it. Tuck it in your cargo shorts. Stick it in the glove box of your Subaru. Do whatever you have to do.
More importantly, find out what it takes to earn the coveted "Peeing in a Sports Bottle" merit badge (among other Summer Scout Merit Badges) in the pages that follow.
Special thanks to all the Weekly Volcano Summer Scout contributing writers, Summer Scout photographer Jason Ganwich and Summer Scout models Rachael Dill-Boyer, Mallory O'Day, Arthur Franklin and Preston Gunner Johnson.
Now bring on the summer. - Matt Driscoll, editor
