Merry Happy everyone!

Enjoy the day ... and the eggnog.

National Nothing National Day

I receive three emails todays promoting some "National Day," including National Train Day May 8. I'm ready for National "Nothing National Day."

Honeymoon update

I enjoyed California Adventure, the theme park next to Disneyland. However I was disappointed that the NorCal Pot-Growers Collective Show was canceled. Drat.

I did hop on the Mister Angry Terrible Traffic Crawl ride over and over. The long automotive bliss on a smog-choked freeway rocked,...

Only in L.A.

A Los Angeles morning news show has an astrology report. Only in L.A. By the way, travel and foreign ventures are coming my way, which is nice.

It's a wet world after all

So kids! Here we are in Disneyland. After we slammed a couple Magic Kingdom CarcinoDogs and a warm light beer in the Disneyland Strip Mall on the way to the Magic Kingdom we spent the next five hours in Raindrenchedland. Giggles and unfair stereotypes galore underneath a sheet of rain was the...

YMCA alarm clock

A word of warning to future Hotel Murano guests: even if your room is on the 24th floor you will still hear the 7 a.m. YMCA class running down the street lead by the loudest dude on the planet.

Fuel up

I'm headed to Smooth and Juicey downtown to fuel up. My Wife In A Week has a long list of pre-wedding jobs for me. A. Long. List.

In regards to STINK, the word on the street is Jack at neighboring Fudie is serving Gluhwein.

Thanks Lynn. My shadow animal skills are top-notch.

Marrow will be a whiskey bar/gastro pub offering small plates of exotic sounding culinary creations. It will open in early August if everything goes as planned.

Thanks for participating Todd. It's at least 100 questions less than past years. Editor Matt cut my suggestion: Best place to sip soup and listen to vinyl between a pool hall and a comedy club?

Thanks Billy. Our area is blessed with some top-notch dives. We have a few more to add. Cheers.

Weekly Volcano Circulation Guy Bill invited Kate and I to Easter brunch at Oakbrook Country Club. Huge spread with omelet and prime rib stations, cinnamon roll French toast, perfect bacon and special treats from @BarKeepDana (Twitter). Packed house.

Are you singing Kevin, or whipping out the trumpet?

This is sad news. The day before Thanksgiving every year, after our short deadline, high-stress three-day week, we'd blow off steam at Captain Nemo's before heading home for the holiday. The Weekly Volcano staff will miss those stiff drinks and captain chairs. R.I.P.

Oh man Brian, how I miss Shakey's pizza, the airy crust, the long wooden tables and the silent flicks. Pietros would be ranked high, too.

Our readers seeded this tournament throughout the month of February. The Right Spot battles Rollie's Tavern March 28. Download the attached bracket pdf and follow the fun.

It’s hard not to be romantic about newspapers, too.

It's Greek To Me
  • 4/5 Star Rating.

Visited It's Greek To Me before the Hall & Oates show at the Fair. I only had time to grab the spanakopita appetizer, two tasty buttery wedges stuffed with a tangy mix of feta, lemon juice and not so much spinach that other flavors are diminished. Tasty. It's time to head back.

Asado

A warm, lively atmosphere to begin with a Manhattan and empanadas, followed by a steak cooked to perfection and end with port and something chocolate-y.

Wine Spectator was correct in picking them as one of the best restaurants in the Northwest for local wines.

Firth's performance is amazing; besides the obvious grief, we see rage, kindness, lust, contentment. There are humorous scenes â€" if a bit macabre.
