When it comes to food, they bring it

The corner lot that briefly housed Ezell’s Chicken (tasty southern cuisine), will soon be home to a full service restaurant with catering capabilities.
Owners Stephen and Gretchen Nogler are moving Garden Café from Sumner to Tacoma’s Sixth Avenue.
A large banner on the outside of the building announces a December opening. Visible interior construction suggests January of 2008 to be a more realistic expectation. A slideshow at www.pinwheelcatering. com shows a few pictures of the progress and changes the space has gone through in the last few months.
Herban Café’s menu has my head spinning with the thought of mini-caprese, spicy lime remoulade, hand-formed beef and bison patties, sweet potato ravioli, dried cherries, duck breast, tomato basil tapenade, baked brie, sweet corn relish, black mission figs, gorgonzola dips, apple smoked bacon crumbles, and duck cassoulet.
There is no mention of decadent desserts yet, but given the menu items, I’m betting they’ll be to die for, and I’m also betting reservations will be needed almost immediately.
A Liquor Control Board announcement is posted on the front door. Looks like Herban Café will be able to treat Tacoma to delicious wines and cocktails as well as beautiful hand crafted cuisine.
Owners hope to be open seven days a week serving lunch, dinner and a Sunday brunch.
