Food Matters
- Borders Books will hand over any small beverage of your choice when you purchase a bag of beans on Fridays. Bag a bag at 2508 S. 38th St. by the Tacoma Mall.
- Dockside Bistro & Wine Bar will knock off half the price on your glass of wine if you can guess what they poured. Give it a shot every Wednesday at 501 Columbia N.W. in downtown Olympia.
- The Tacoma Symphony Orchestra will host a Celebrity Chefs Showcase, an evening of culinary delights, fine wine and a bit of classical tunes, Thursday, May 29 at Clover Park Technical College. The chefs will be Dan Hutchinson of Brix 25, Aaron Valimont of Pacific Grill, Joel Mertens of Asado/Masa, and Matt Brandsey of Sea Grill. The price tag is $150 per person. Eat 101
- Bayview School of Cooking has time for a 20 Minute Seafood Meals class Wednesday, May 15 at 6 p.m. The cost is $45. You may register at 360.754.1448.
- Primo Grill hosts a Southern Italy cooking class Saturday, May 17 at 2 p.m. The cost is $65, which includes lunch and a glass of wine. To reserve your spot, call 253. 383.7000.
- Braiden Rex-Johnson, cookbook author and food-wine pairing columnist from Wine Press Northwest, teams up with chef Dianna K. Allerges to recreate Rex-Johnson’s recipes and pair them with regional wines Friday, May 23 at 6 p.m. The cost is $75. To register, call 360.754.1448.
