“odd couple”

Neil Simon’s recipe for onstage success: Take two people with conflicting personalities. Put them in confined living quarters. Add a sprinkle of personal hygiene jokes. Allow the tension to rise for about an hour. Cool. Serve. Enjoy! Paradise Theatre is staging this classic buddy comedy about roommates from different sides of the planet.

[Paradise Theatre, through Feb. 3, 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, 4 p.m. Sunday, $8-$18, 9911 Burnham Drive N.W., Gig Harbor, 253.851. 7529, www.paradisetheatre.org]

“uncommon mozart”

“Uncommonly Funny: Tacoma Opera presents Uncommon Mozart” explores Mozart’s one-act comedy “The Impresario,” the story of a producer struggling to keep his opera company afloat, but this one is set in 1930s Manhattan. The show is sung in English, Italian and German.

[Theatre on the Square, 8 p.m. Feb. 2, 2 p.m. Feb. 3, $30, 915 Broadway, Tacoma, 253.627. 7789, www.tacoma opera.com]
