“urinetown”

Time to go with the flow. Tacoma Musical Playhouse’s production of “Urinetown” is a cross between “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying,” “Logan’s Run” and a yeast infection. The play follows the tale of a town that quite literally can’t pee without padding a corporate pocket.

[Narrows Theater, through Feb. 3, 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, $16-$23, 7116 Sixth Ave., Tacoma, 253.565.6867, www.tmp.org]

“the sound of music”

The time is now to see one of the best shows so far this season. “The Sound of Music” ends its run at Lakewood Playhouse this weekend. This heartwarmingly tender family show stays true to the movie everyone knows and loves but also doesn’t fear to take a few detours to make it new.

[Lakewood Playhouse, 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday, 2 p.m. Sun-day, $14-$22, 5729 Lakewood Towne Center Blvd., Lakewood, 253.588.0042,www.lakewoodplayhouse.org]
