Bark at the moon Saturday night

You hear it all the time: “There’s strength in numbers.” Or “the more the merrier.”
Usually I agree. But in the case of A Pack of Wolves — who will play Le Voyeur in Olympia Saturday, Jan. 5 — the adages don’t hold up.

Emanating from Northern California, A Pack of Wolves, despite their strength, are merely two dudes — Eden and Francesco. While the band’s numbers may disqualify them from technically being a “pack,” that’s about their only misleading quality. The gist of their shtick is simple — Eden and Francesco compose and record songs with your typical rock staples — electric guitars, drums, etc., then live the band utilizes a laptop to bring the music to life. According to MySpace, A Pack of Wolves “is known for causing intense gyrating movements among those who bare witness.” Saturday, this should be you.

If you need a bit more convincing, consider this:

“We enjoy horses, specifically Clydesdale’s. We think they are just really super. We also get super hammered ... like literally hit in the head with hammer. You wanna party? Then go ahead and email us,” states the band on www.myspace.com/apackofwolves.

So, if you enjoy gyrating, rock and roll, or being hit in the head with a hammer, A Pack of Wolves sounds like your kind of band. They’ll be at Le Voyeur on Saturday as part of a tour that will also bring them to Chop Suey in Seattle and the Old Firehouse in Redmond. Eden and Francesco might not, technically, be a pack — but they’re pretty freakin’ good.

[Le Voyeur, with Tim Curry Bear and Buffalo Voices, Saturday, Jan. 5, 10 p.m., no cover, 404 E. Fourth Ave., Olympia, 360.943.5710]
