Barefoot Studios reopens

Moving is never easy and more difficult for businesses, yet Tacoma’s Barefoot Studios has made the leap and settled in a new location. Many factors in 2006 made the move for Barefoot a necessity, not the least being a 50-percent rent increase.
Owners Paul and Josephine Zmolek moved from their Dome District digs to a new location in Tacoma’s Nalley Valley on Center Street across from Tool Town and Party World. They invite the masses back in for a “Grand Re-re-opening” celebration with a special discount day of dance Saturday, Dec. 1. As part of the celebration, dance class tuition has been reduced to $5 per class.
In the past two years since opening in 2005, Barefoot Studios has proudly produced the SiteWorks Dance Festival at the Museum of Glass, performance workshops, Callous Physical Theatre works, music concerts, and visual arts exhibitions.
Recipient of the Tacoma Arts Commission’s 2006 AMOCAT Award for Arts Outreach and the Pierce County Arts Commission’s 2006 Margaret K. Williams Arts Award for Excellence in the Arts, Barefoot Studios will re-open as a not-for-profit business, Barefoot Callous Arts. Creative dance, ballet, barefoot beat, capoeira, jazz dance instruction and more will be offered.
