The Weekly Volcano attended the much-hyped Butler Bar and Grill opening Friday. We caught revved up Des Moines residents celebrating with abandon at a series of private parties over last weekend. Attendees were treated to complimentary appetizers — gourmet crostini, spreads, Brie and raspberry chutney, while others sampled the wide tequila and bourbon selection. Rabid soccer fans, including owner Mike Colello, were glued to flat screens pounding tables when goals were missed and applauding thunderously when rounds of shots were delivered. We told them they were welcome in T-town anytime. The restaurant is now open to the public.
