DJs spin during Valentine's Day
by Suzy Stump

This Wednesday is Valentine's Day, the most romantic and stressful time of year for men. Poor guys. I don't envy you. This is the day you dread all year — trying to figure out what to do, what not to say, how to dress, and where to go. So here are some ideas.

“The Red Event” features R&B and hip-hop under red lights with drink specials such as Top Shelf Heartbreaker, One Night Stand and Cupid’s Arrow at Cheers West. Dress in red to receive half off the $10 cover. 9 p.m., 7102 27th St. W., University Place.

Tacoma's Roller Derby Dockyard Derby Dames host a prom anchored in 1986 titled "Pretty In Pink Valentine's Day Ball" at the Varsity Grill Wednesday.  Mr. Mister's "Broken Wings," Simple Minds' "Alive And Kicking," Nu Shooz' "I Can't Wait" and more will pump through your veins as you, practically reincarnated as Molly Ringwald, dance under tacky decorations.  Food.  Drinks.  Prom pictures.  This is your second chance, Ducky.  9 p.m., $15-$25 at www.brownpapertickets.com, 1114 Broadway, Tacoma.    Suzy Stump
