Late morning mega meals in the South Sound

Jan 18, 2007

OLD HOUSE CAFÉ

They serve a Sunday brunch that defies the ordinary.  There is a baked apple with potato pancakes; stuffed peanut butter and banana French toast; oyster frittata; even green eggs and ham (a pesto sauce accounts for the color).  Drops-ins are accepted, and the morning light through the windows in this upper floor eatery is warm and inviting.  Great service. 2717 Proctor St., Tacoma, (253) 759-7336.

RED WIND CASINO

All gambling puns aside, there’s more to gain at Red Wind Casino than just a few coins on the slots.  Like the well-known Vegas buffets, this Nisqually casino offers a Sunday brunch that is not only worthy of the drive but also the kind of place you’d want to take Mom for Easter or Mother’s Day. 12819 Yelm Highway, 360.412.5000.
